INSPIRATIONS - MAY 14 2015
The things, people, and places that are making life (and work) better this week.
DEPT. OF SPECULATION BY JENNY OFFILL
My latest read. At once very easily digested - you could probably finish it in a single sitting, maybe two - and highly thought-provoking. I enjoyed the combination of dry observation and melancholic musing, interwoven with philosophical insights like the one above.
Buy it! (But not from Amazon).
There are a million coffee shops on LA's East Side but this one is new(ish), light-filled, and lovely. I particularly appreciate their 'Things Will Be Fine' slogan, which is etched in neon letters across the wall. Special shout out to ponytailed guy who works there - quite possibly the smiliest person I've ever met.
I discovered this Beijing-based photographer at Paris Photo LA the other week, and have been rotating a selection of his images on my laptop desktop ever since. They're sexy and playful and they remind me not to take myself too seriously. Sometimes.
I'm about to embark on a three-month trip with a solitary (medium-sized!) suitcase, and Muji's streamlined travel products have actually got me excited about the prospect of packing. Call me a weirdo, but I'm looking forward to rolling with even less stuff than I do usually. Blame Marie.
This week / next week / always.
