A space for working women worldwide.

Last night was one of my favourite meetings of The WW Club – in large part (I'm not gonna lie) because there was a lot of food involved. Delicious food, too: Watermelon salad topped with chunks of crispy fried chicken (so much better than croutons), perfectly pink bavette steak, a flourless chocolate crunch cake with a salted caramel cacao crumble, and cocktails - so many cocktails - mixed to perfection using The Pressery almond milks.

I digress.

The reason for all this gluttony (not that I ever need one) was 'Open For Business': An evening at independent restaurant Rita's in Hackney, focused on getting started in London's ever-evolving food and drink scene. I was joined by a panel of young women who are killing across the board: Missy Flynn, who is holding down the fort as co-owner of Rita's, Chi-San Wan and Natali Stajcic, the co-founders of astronomically successful almond milk business The Pressery, and Freddie Janssen, who heads up marketing at celebrated Shoreditch restaurant Lyle's and also somehow finds time to produce her own pickles and sauces with her personal sideline, F.A.T.

As always, the crowd were an amazing mix of women, many of whom had launched, or were about to launch food businesses of their own. Inspiring stuff. Stay tuned for a full recording of the evening's conversation, and enjoy the photos below for now.
