INSPIRATIONS - APRIL 22 2015

The things, people, and places that are making life (and work) better this week.

MY CREW

With whom I just spent a wonderful weekend in Palm Springs. I don't know what I did to deserve friends like these, but I'm thankful for them. (From left to right: Grace Ladoja, Irene Agbontaen, yours truly, and Sharmadean Reid.

YOU ARE NOT A LIST OF PROBLEMS

"I just get this sense that men wake up in the morning and go, “My name is Dave. I’m putting on some trousers. I’ll get into my work clothes as comfortably and quickly as I can and then I’m going to go fishing or play football or have some fun and sit in my shed.” Men are just enjoying their lives brilliantly, as they should. Women wake up and they are immediately like, “Oh no, I shouldn’t have eaten carbs last night; I feel a bit bloated; I feel a bit too fat; my hair has gone triangular; I haven’t got anything in my wardrobe; I haven’t done my pelvic floor exercises; I haven’t booked my child’s birthday party.” We see ourselves as a list of problems and we are not concentrating on the main thing, which is joy. There will never be another you and there will never be another me and there will never be another moment like this – and that’s the thing we’ve got to remember."

30 DAY MINIMALIST CHALLENGE

Yep, I'm still riding this wave

THE MOST INFLUENTIAL

The Working Women's Club - Ruth Bader Ginsburg

TIME just published its annual list. The best kind of motivational reading (it could do with a few more women on it, though).

AN I-D ORIGINAL

The Working Women's Club - Sade on the cover of i-D Magazine, 1983. thewwclub.com

This has been lurking in storage in London for a while - just had it sent over and felt totally inspired by the style and vibe of London c. 1983.
