WORKSPACES: NYPL STEPHEN A. SCHWARZMAN BUILDING

Places to turn into your own personal workspaces.

WHERE

Any branch of the New York Public Library, although the Stephen A. Schwarzman building is a particularly grand place to call your office for the day.

WHY SHOULD I WORK THERE?

There's something pretty decadent about heading to work in a beautiful space, and the flagship branch of the NYPL is just that. Sadly the famous Rose Reading Room (pictured above, in a slight case of false advertising) is closed for refurbishment, but there are still plenty of spaces with free wifi where you can set up camp.

This location isn't actually a lending library, but instead hosts free exhibitions, tours, and numerous programmes and events (more info here), plus offers amazing research facilities that you can request access to in advance. With some careful planning, you could make a truly productive cultural day of it.
